ADOPTION
Stepparent – Completing a stepparent adoption can be accomplished in one of two ways: by agreement of the parties or by having a hearing to terminate the parental rights of a birth parent. If the birth parent has failed to pay child support or has failed to maintain a substantial and positive relationship with the child, you may be able to complete an adoption without their consent or otherwise terminate their parental rights. Upon successful completion of a stepparent adoption, you will obtain a birth certificate that will have the stepparent’s name as birth parent. Future child support obligations also terminate upon completion of a stepparent adoption.
Grandparent Adoptions – These adoptions often occur after a grandparent has raised the child by having Guardianship or otherwise having custody of a child for many years.
DHS-Foster Parent Adoption – These adoptions are arranged and paid for by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The client will not owe attorney fees or costs for their DHS adoption. Your birth certificate is also included at no cost to you for your DHS Adoption.
Relative – Adoption of a child by any birth relative of the child.
Adult – Adoption of one adult by another, usually involving adult stepchildren being adopted by their stepparent.
Private –Adoptions where the birth parents and the adoptive parents do not know each other and future contact between the child and birth parents does not occur.
Open – Adoptions where the birth parents and adoptive parents reach an agreement for future contact between the birth parents and child.

I was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma and grew up in Wagoner, Oklahoma. I graduated from Wagoner High School and lived in Wagoner until going to college.
I obtained a bachelors degree from Northeastern State University majoring in Criminal Justice/Paralegal. I then attended Law School at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. I later transferred to the University of Tulsa and graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law in 1995.
I have always practiced law in Wagoner. I worked for an attorney in Wagoner for one year and have been in private practice since 1995. My office is located directly across the street from the Wagoner County Courhouse.

Admitted to practice in Federal Court for the Northern and Eastern District of Oklahoma
